LESS GUESSING. BETTER QUESTIONS.

You don't need to become a media buyer to ask better questions.

Whether an agency, freelancer or internal media buyer runs your Meta/Facebook ads, you should be able to understand the work you’re paying for.

Good agencies can be good partners. This is a useful routine even when the relationship is working: check the evidence, flag what needs an explanation and have a clearer conversation.

INSIDE THE AUDIT SHEET5 areas · 27 checks

Five places to look before your next agency call.

01
Access & ownership · 5 checks

Can you actually see your own account?

Start with what your business can access and verify: account ownership, security, former helpers, billing and approved spend. Ask your partner to walk you through anything you can’t see or reconcile.

RED FLAG TO LOOK FOR

You can’t access your own account or verify what was charged.

02
Settings & spending · 5 checks

The basics, in Ads Manager.

Check the campaign goal, any applicable category, your real service area, budget structure and targeting rationale. The person running your ads should be able to explain the plan in plain language.

RED FLAG TO LOOK FOR

Ads reach places you don’t serve, or nobody can explain the budget plan.

03
Creative & delivery · 6 checks

Look at the ads themselves.

Look at the images, videos and wording your customers actually see—including whether videos make sense without sound. Review rejected ads, creative refreshes and repetition with your partner, rather than guessing from a report.

RED FLAG TO LOOK FOR

Rejected ads sit unresolved, or creative goes stale without a review.

04
Inquiries & follow-up · 5 checks

Test the lead path yourself.

Send a test inquiry and follow it through to your team. Check notifications, follow-up timing, qualification, storage and recent leads so you can see where the handoff needs attention.

RED FLAG TO LOOK FOR

Your test inquiry never reaches whoever should follow up.

05
Results & decisions · 6 checks

Then read the reporting.

Ask for qualified-lead costs and an agreed target, alongside context about customers. Review decisions about winning ads, change history, campaigns that should have ended and unanswered ad comments.

RED FLAG TO LOOK FOR

The report shows reach and clicks, but no qualified-lead or customer context.

A red flag is a reason to ask for an explanation—not proof that your partner is bad.

TURN THE REVIEW INTO A CONVERSATION

Check the account.
Flag the gaps.
Have a clearer conversation.

The PDF includes a red-flag tally and written next steps. Keep your notes together, ask for clear answers and bring three numbers: what you spent, how many leads came in and how many became customers.
